About Powers, Colorado Springs

Powers Colorado Springs is located on the eastern edge of Colorado Springs, bordered to the west by Powers Blvd. and to the east by Marksheffel Road, Woodmen Rd. to the north and the Colorado Springs Airport to the south.

This area derives its name from Powers Blvd. This is a major North/South artery on Colorado Springs east side and this area is often referred to as the Powers Corridor. The street derives its name from the fact that it was the route the power lines took to the United States Air Force Academy to the north. In the late sixties, there wasn’t really anything but the Academy in the northern part of Colorado Springs.

This area is home to a wide array of shopping, restaurants and entertainment from big box stores and national chains to local favorites. Utilities are supplied by Colorado Springs Utilities.         

People flock to the Powers area for convenience and affordability. This area has a wide range of housing options as well as a large selection of amenities. The main zip codes are 80922 and 80923 and students attend Falcon School District 49 or Colorado Springs School District 11.

The Powers area is an extremely popular destination for home buyers in the Pikes Peak Region. This popularity is based on location to downtown Colorado Springs and military installations. Additionally, this area’s rapid residential growth has given way to commercial and retail growth as well.

The Powers area of Colorado Springs is a long skinny region that centers around Powers Blvd. The northern border is Briargate while the southern border extends down to Fountain. The homes in this area are in well-established neighborhoods surrounded by restaurants and shopping along Powers Boulevard. People love this area for its convenience to all areas of town and its proximity to shopping and restaurants. Homes in this area are popular with families and range from $200,000 to $450,000. Schools in Powers

The Powers area is split a couple of major schools districts. On the east side of Powers Blvd, is the Falcon D49 school attendance area. This includes Falcon Middle School, Falcon High School, and several elementary schools. South of Highway 94 is the Colorado Springs D11 School District and a very small area of the D2 Harrison School District. On the north end of the Powers corridor, is a small area of D20 Academy School District attendance.

This areas usually experiences average snow during the winter, but the spring, summer, and fall are just as lovely as the greater Pikes Peak region.
