Things to Do in Colorado Springs this Weekend (Sept 2-Sept 3)


​And with that, we bid farewell to August and usher in September and Labor Day Weekend! Balloon festivities, tours, and outdoor events abound this Saturday and Sunday. The weather looks gorgeous for all three days of your holiday weekend, which is promising for the balloons to lift off. Happy Labor Day Weekend all!

Things to Do This Weekend

Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off – Sat Sept 2-Mon Sept 4, 7:00am, Memorial Park, Colorado Springs

Admission: Free. A local favorite event is here! Labor Day Lift Off features 60+ hot air balloons taking to the skies and possibly skimming Prospect Lake. Plus music, vendors, food, and more! For more info, visit: Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off.

Colorado Springs Balloon Glow – Sat Sept 2-Sept 3, 3:30pm-10:00pm, Memorial Park, Colorado Springs​

Admission: Free. Along with Labor Day Lift Off is the Balloon Glow. The hot air balloons will be inflated, lighting up the night at Memorial Park. Sept 2 Vehicle will be performing live. Sept 3 Martini Shot will be hitting the stage. For more info, visit: Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off.

Discovery Hike – Sat Sept 2, 1:00pm-2:30pm, Cheyenne Mountain State Park 410 JL Ranch Heights

Admission: Parking pass required – Daily $7. Find out what’s growing on this one mile hike around Cheyenne Mountain! Children 6 and up will use identification books and magnifying glasses to do some hands on research on the trail. For more info, visit: Colorado Parks & Wildlife.

​Aviation Youth Tours​ – Sat Sept 2, 11:00am-1:00pm, National Museum of World War II Aviation 755 Aviation Way​​

Admission: $5-$10. Last day to experience the Airmen Familiarization Tour that includes a simulator ride! Kids 6-12 can learn aviation history from WWII and how planes are restored. For more info, visit: National Museum of World War II Aviation.

Birds of Prey: Program & Release – Sun Sept 3, 1:00pm-3:30pm, Cheyenne Mountain State Park 410 JL Ranch Heights

Admission: Parking pass required – Daily $7. Usually we see these amazing birds flying way above us, but come see them up close! Win the chance to release a newly rehabilitated bird back to the wild. For more info, visit: Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
