Old Colorado City
Old Colorado City is a charming area, located just west of downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. This area is rich with both history and charm, making it a favorite destination for tourists.
This area began around 1859 as a supply hub for the gold mines during the “Pike Peak Gold Rush” and for a short time (5 days) was the territorial seat. Today, this area is home to a wide range of shops and restaurants. Tourist flock to this area, especially during the summer months because of its historic charm and proximity to Pikes Peak.
This area is really a tale of two cities. There is the tourism aspect and then there are the people that live here day to day. Shopping in the tourist areas is not really feasible, so residents of this area generally use the amenities of the neighboring west side of Colorado Springs.
Old Colorado City is in the Colorado Springs School District #11 attendance area.
